In this experimental class, we delved into the biological concepts of gene randomness and natural selection through a series of practical activities. The experiment first involves distributing 100 red, black, and white beans of each type, and using different tools to transfer these beans into their respective cups. This process aims to simulate the random transmission of genes. Through this simple and intuitive approach, we can understand how the genetic combinations of offspring are influenced by random factors in biological genetics.
In addition, the experiment also included observations of previously planted small plants. Unfortunately, these plants have all died, but their seeds have matured, providing us with a vivid example of the life cycle and biological continuity. Although plants themselves cannot survive, they still transmit life through seeds, reflecting how organisms in nature adapt to their environment in different ways to ensure the continuation of their species.
In the section on natural selection, we learned how organisms evolve through the rule of survival of the fittest in the natural environment. Natural selection, as the main driving force of evolution, enables individuals who are able to adapt to environmental changes and have more survival and reproductive advantages to inherit. By studying this process, we can not only better understand the formation of biodiversity, but also recognize the importance of protecting the environment and maintaining ecological balance.
